Please read these information sheets on how to support your child's learning in reading.
|
Take a moment to check out your child's blog each week (after the first week of school!).
If they haven't published work, please check the following week and encourage them to do so. If they have, take a moment to leave a positive comment. The children really appreciate people reading their blogs. Blogs are edited by the children and are their own work - please focus on the content not the punctuation - we will work on improving both throughout the year. |
My personal statement to you:
I will do my best to ... * Get to know your child, their interests, abilities, challenges, and concerns. * Inspire, encourage, and guide your child's learning. * Respect and listen to your child. * Equip them for life and a lifelong love of learning. * Help them to take responsibility for themselves while caring about others (Grace and Courtesy). II look forward to partnering with them and with you on the journey ahead, thank you. |
HOME LEARNING can be found under the parent info tab on the Malfroy Website. This has useful links for maths games to help your child learn at home too.
Please ensure your child has a good sleep, breakfast and lunch. It REALLY makes a difference. Check that the office has your correct details too if they have changed recently.
It would be helpful if your child could bring in a named drink bottle (for water) to have in class. We only drink water at Malfroy, no juice please. |
In Montessori, homework is more about helping and doing chores to learn responsibility and increasing independence. Your school age child should be making their own bed and lunch, and taking an increasing share of the household chores as they grow (or taking on set responsibilities),
If you want to see them set up homework routines for when they reach high school, then all students can read to you each night, and talk about what they have read. Students from Year 3 up, can ALL be learning spelling words and times tables at home each night during the week. There is also an expectation that Yr5 students will read 15 minutes minimum each night and Yr 6 should read 20 minutes, and so on. Read to them if you get a chance too. |
